Victor Boniface, the striker of Leverkusen, is injured while playing for the Nigeria national team and is likely to miss the rest of 2024.

Sky Germany reported on Friday that Victor Boniface will be out for the rest of the year after suffering a thigh injury, but Leverkusen manager Xavier Alonso is hopeful the 23-year-old will return before the end of the year. 

Boniface suffer a hamstring injury in the 2-1 defeat to Rwanda in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and was withdraw in the 89th minute to be replace by Real Sociedad striker Umar Sadiq, with the 23-year-old report out for the rest of the season. 

“He’s going to miss two or three games, I can’t tell you how long, it’s probably six or eight weeks. Hopefully he can play this year,” Alonso said of Boniface’s injury.

It is the UFABET second serious injury this year for Boniface. Who missed the second half of last season with a hamstring injury before making a comeback, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 10 games this season before suffering another injury.

Leverkusen has dropped points in six Bundesliga games already this season – drawn five and lost one – as often as it did during the entirety of its 2023-2024 title-winning campaign, when it drew six times.

It comes into this weekend’s fixture against Heidenheim on a three-game run of draws in the Bundesliga, the first time it has gone this long without a victory since between April and May 2023.

Leverkusen sits fourth in the Bundesliga, already nine points behind leader Bayern Munich as the busy festive schedule begins.
